Welcome

THE SEASON IS OPEN

From June 1st to September 30th, Delta du Fangu invites you on a refreshing journey to discover an exceptional site listed as a Biosphere Reserve (MAB) by UNESCO.

In this lush landscape where only birdsong breaks the silence, you'll glide silently on the mirror-like water to observe a wealth of wildlife and plants: hundreds of white water lilies along the banks, European pond turtles sunbathing on half-submerged logs, many birds — little grebes, moorhens — and, depending on the season, waders such as grey herons and egrets, and the more elusive, magnificent kingfishers darting low over the surface.

This ecological discovery at the Fangu delta is all about the surprising closeness between visitor and nature: here, humans blend into the world of the animals.

The delta

OVERVIEW

South of Calvi, on the western coast of Corsica, at the head of the Gulf of Galéria, lies the mouth of the Fangu. Four arms of water draw an intimate delta, tucked between the sea and the first ridges of the massif.

The trip lasts about an hour, in full autonomy. You glide on still, currentless water by canoe, along paths lined with water lilies — no engine, no guide talking behind you, just the water, the wind and the birds.

Here, you don't cross nature, you blend into it. Silence is the rule, and so is distance from the animals. That's what makes every encounter — a pond turtle basking in the sun, a kingfisher skimming the surface, a still heron — actually possible.

Since 2001

HENRI'S STORY

« Here, we take nothing, we frighten no one, we glide in silence. That is the condition for nature to remain at home. »
Henri-Christian, known as Hanky
Read Henri's story

Since arriving at the site in 2001, Henri has gradually cleaned, restored and preserved this natural place.

He decided to fence off 10 hectares to let the vegetation grow back and allow nature to take its place again.

The result was spectacular: at the start, only nine water lily flowers remained across the entire delta. Today, more than 3,000 bloom every summer.

Motorised craft have been prohibited on the delta to protect the environment and respect the fragile balance of the site, classified as a biosphere reserve since 1977. Henri also signed a charter with the Conservatoire du Littoral, UNESCO, Natura 2000 and the Corsica Regional Natural Park.

The commitments are clear: a maximum of 16 canoes on the water, a one-way route, silence, distance from wildlife, and no picking of plants.

Here, a visit is not just a stroll.

It is the story of a place preserved, protected, then passed on.
